SAY HELLO TO ~ THE HAPPY SHOVEL

Looking for a new shape to bring some fun back into your session and put a smile on your face? Say hello to The Happy Shovel from Rusty!

Introducing the newest edition to the quiver, this small wave board is ideal for that knee to shoulder high day. Its limits are yet to be determined. Think low volume but high surface area.

The Happy Shovel paddles and planes with ease, combining a double-barrel concave and short board rails, the board allows you to whip it around on a dime! We designed it with the five fin setup for even more versatility so you can ride it as a quad or a thruster.

Our team riders across the globe have been giving the Happy Shovel two thumbs up… a fun board to surf!

SHOP OF THE MONTH ~ INNERLIGHT SURF ‘N’ SKATE

Serving the Gulf Coast’s boarding needs for over 40 years! Innerlight's goal is to truly earn the title as The Surfer’s Surf Shop.

Started in 1969 by founder Yancy Spencer (who changed the name to Innerlight in 1972), Innerlight grew from a 400 sq ft cinder block building…into 5 locations from Gulf Shores, AL to Destin, FL.  Yancy co-owned Innerlight with his brother JB (Spencer) Schluter. They have grown up with the surf industry and  know products and services inside out and strive to be on the cutting edge of the latest trends and technologies.

Yancy passed away in February of 2011 after surfing all day at one of his favorite spots in California.  Since then the torch has been passed on to his family to continue in the same path. Innerlight is very involved with it’s community and sponsors many events, schools, and teams.  Stop by any location and you will see why many people see Innerlight as a second home.

There are five stores to provide the best level of support possible for the Gulf Coast’s boarding and beach-going communities. Visit them online at www.innerlightsurf.com or stop by any of the locations below

FRIDAY ~ FUN DAY

This past Friday Rusty teamed up with Killer Dana and hosted a surfboard demo on the beach at Salt Creek in Dana Point, and a autograph signing BBQ with Rusty team rider Josh Kerr.

The demo kicked off at 12 pm in front of Middles at Salt Creek with Rusty team riders Sammy Orozco, Kevin Shulz, and Porter Hogan. Luckily Clint and Rex from Rusty surfboards brought down a ton of Happy Shovels and Neil Diamonds, as well as a bunch of other awesome shapes to shred. Unfortunately the waves were a bit on the grovel side, but everyone who grabbed a fresh Rusty board seemed to be having fun testing out the new shapes. The kids were amping on trying some fresh foam and fins, and the weather on the beach was perfect to get out in the lineup and have some fun.

The autograph signing and BBQ party with Josh Kerr kicked off at Killer Dana Surf Shop in Dana Point at 4 pm. Lots of stoked kids and parents showed up to meet Kerrzy, partake in the party, and get some dinner with the kids. The Killer Dana surf team was on hand as well to hang out and talk shop with Kerrzy, and get a couple pointers from the WCT competitor. Kerzzy was more than happy to sign some shirts and posters, and he brought up his own kids to hang out and check out the fun time.

Thanks to the Killer Dana crew for hosting the event and to all the people who made it down to the beach and the shop.

HELPING ~ OUT

Josh Kerr is the man! Not only can he post 10's at Pipe and huck giant airs, he is also a guy who loves to bring smiles and stoke to all those around him, especially those in need of a few smiles.

Kerrzy and family made a special visit yesterday to Rady's Children Hospital in San Diego to bring some cheer and some goodies to some very special kids who need some cheering up.

Kerrzy took his family shopping to pick out some new toys and goodies for the kids at the hospital, and he was more than happy to sign a few posters while hanging out and talking with the groms.

KERRZY ~ ROAD TO THE FINALS

Josh Kerr || Volcom Pipe Pro from rustyintl on Vimeo.

Check out this latest Rusty edit featuring Rusty team rider Josh Kerr's road to the finals during the Pipe Pro contest earlier this month. It shows Kerrzy doing what he does when he's in contest mode and charging. There are some sick clips of Kerrzy getting barreled off his ass to push his way through to the finals, and if you watch it closely you can see his cat like reflexes in action.

Kerrzy was just voted the fifth best tuberider in the world by many of his peers according to Stabmag.com, it's easy to see why in this clip
